Police says Wodonga house fire not thought suspicious, praise rescuers | The Border Mail

UPDATE: Wodonga detectives have thanked neighbours who helped a woman escape her burning home on Monday evening. Detective Sergeant Graeme Simpfendorfer said the fire at the Pearce Street public housing property was not considered suspicious, although an arson chemist visited the site the following day. “Their job is to establish area of origin and cause and our job is in relation to the circumstances of that, which may or may not make it suspicious,” the detective said on Tuesday. “At this stage, nothing to suggest any foul play but we’ve got our chemists here today to give us some comfort around what the cause actually is.” The fire began at the back of the house, which was significantly damaged by smoke and flames…
